Michael Watts-Jimenez
M.A. Adv Dip Therapeutic Counselling.
About Me
I am a qualified, professional Counsellor and Therapist with over 30 years’ experience, including 25 years working within the NHS. During this time, I have supported both adults and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional and mental health difficulties. I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy, and have worked with people facing issues ranging from mild anxiety, low self‑esteem and lack of confidence, through to more complex challenges such as severe depression eating disorders, OCD, intrusive thoughts, childhood trauma, self‑harm and suicidal thoughts.
When you are struggling emotionally — no matter how these difficulties show up in your life — deciding to seek help is already a huge step forward, and brings you halfway towards making meaningful, positive changes.
My Approach
From my original training and subsequent courses I have learned skills and techniques from the different schools of therapy and now offer an integrative approach, drawing on everything I have learned.
I offer a safe, thoughtful and confidential space where you can explore what you are going through in your own time. Often, people already have a sense of what they would like to change and how they would like to feel — they simply need an experienced person alongside them to help them move forward.
I believe the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the most important factors in how effective therapy will be. It is always right to take time to find someone you feel comfortable with, who has the right skills and experience for your needs.
A key principle I live by and bring to every session is being fully present. Through therapy, you can learn to be more present in the moment too: to explore your thoughts and feelings with compassion, gain deeper insight, heal past hurts, recognise unhelpful patterns, let go of self‑judgement, and move forward with greater confidence and freedom.
Practical Information
• Appointments: Available online or by telephone. Each session lasts 50 minutes.
• Fees: £60 per session. Lower concessionary rates are available for people on low incomes and full‑time students.
• Initial Contact: I am happy to arrange an introductory call so we can meet briefly and discuss whether working together feels right for you. If we decide I am not the best fit, or another form of support would be more helpful, I will be pleased to suggest alternative options.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more or book an appointment.
